GP Training

GP Training

Hedon Group Practice is committed to training new GPs and also periodically more junior doctors.

Who's Who?

  • GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who are completing their specialist training to be a GP. Each registrar is allocated a GP trainer (Dr Rhodes, Dr Mason or Dr Ikpoh) who oversees their training. They are based at the practice for 6 or 12 month attachments.
  •  FY2 doctorsare completing their initial 2 year period following qualification. This allows them to experience several specialties prior to deciding on their future career path. Their educational supervision is provided by Dr Menon.

  • Medical students from the Hull &York Medical School ( HYMS) currently attend the practice on Thursdays to gain experience in clinical subjects and speak to patients. You may occasionally be asked to participate in their training. They are supervised at all times by Dr Menon or Dr Myers.

As part of our ongoing commitment to training, you may be asked for your consent to video record a consultation. We will always seek your written permission prior to this and you are under no obligation to agree. Should you change your mind at any time during or after the consultation the recording will be deleted.
The recording will only ever be shown to other medical professionals ( usually the GP trainer) for the purposes of furthering their medical education.

A ppointments - Text Message Reminders

A further message will also be sent 48 hours before the appointment is due as a reminder.

Patient Reference Group

The 2011/2012 Patient Survey Report is now available for perusal. Please click on "Survey Report" under Further Information, on the right hand side.

Updating patients' records

We are currently asking patients to complete some basic details to ensure that our records are 100% correct e.g. telephone numbers. We would also like to take e-mail addresses so that we can ensure the practice Newsletters are seen by as many patients as possible, not just those who attend the surgery.

Pneumonia vaccination

All patients aged over 65 are eligible for a pneumonia vaccination. This is a single injection that provides lifelong protection. If you will be aged 65 or over on 31st March 2014 and have not been vaccinated, please book via reception.
